The 8 Best Hostels in Granada, Spain

Updated on: April 13, 2024 by Mick

Choosing a hostel in Granada that suits your needs during your stay in Granada can be a difficult task. My guide to the best hostels in Granada will help you with this.

Granada, a city where every corner tells a story, is a treasure trove of Andalusian culture, history, and breathtaking landscapes. It's a place where the past and present blend seamlessly, from the majestic Alhambra overlooking the city to the lively streets of the Albaicín. For travellers drawn to cities like Vienna for their art, history, and architecture, Granada presents an equally compelling case with its vibrant flamenco scenes, intricate Islamic art, and mouth-watering tapas.

I have visited Granada on three occasions. Granada is my favourite city in Spain because of its glorious architecture and its excellent tapas bars. It's the only Spanish city that allows you to choose your tapas when you order a beer. I found some restaurants that have a choice of 12 different types of free tapas.

Granada also happens to be one of the cheapest cities in Spain. For instance, it is far cheaper than Madrid or Barcelona. For this reason, Granada  has become one of the best digital nomad destinations in Spain.

Quick Introduction to Hostels in Granada

The standard of hostels in Granada is very high with many of them being among the best hostels in Spain. Granada has some very unique hostels designed in a Moorish style.

Here are a few things you should consider before booking a hostel in Granada:

Price - In bed in a dorm room starts at €12 per night (normally large dorm rooms), but expect to pay €15 to €25 per night in a medium-sized dorm room (8 to 10 beds). There are also some very good deals for private rooms in Granada. Prices at the weekend tend to be 20% to 40% higher as there is greater demand.

Location - Granada is a medium-sized city but it's best to stay in a central location close to the top sights and nightlife. (All hostels listed below are in central locations.)

Amenities/Services - Every hostel in Granada offers free Wi-Fi and a few hostels include breakfast in the price, but if you want more specific services be sure to do your research to find the hostel that best meets your needs.

Staff - Most hostels in Granada have excellent staff. They are normally very friendly and will give you some great tips on restaurants, bars and clubs etc. But my advice is to read reviews to make sure the hostel you choose has friendly and helpful staff because rude or unhelpful staff could ruin your hostel experience.
